Accessible health information, animated with understanding
Curovia creates engaging, culturally relevant, multi-lingual animated videos to improve health communication, particularly for individuals with lower levels of health literacy and limited English proficiency. Our videos support understanding, trust, and informed decision-making across South Asian populations and other underserved groups.
Studies show that video animations can significantly improve recall of health information and support behaviour change—especially in people with low health literacy.
A 2024 systematic review by Hansen et al. found that 73% of randomised controlled trials reported statistically significant improvements in patient recall when using animation videos compared to traditional methods. The most effective videos were short (1–8 minutes) and visually engaging, using 2D or 3D animations to supplement spoken content
In a randomised experiment by Meppelink et al., spoken animation content eliminated the information gap between high- and low-literacy groups. Patients with low health literacy recalled just as much health information as those with high literacy when spoken animations were used
The BMJ Open protocol by McCorry et al. highlights the superiority of visual formats, particularly animation, for conveying public health prevention messages, noting that visual approaches aid memory, reduce cognitive load, and improve attention and understanding, especially in culturally and linguistically diverse groups
Curovia's Approach
Our video development process includes
Languages and dialects
Videos can be produced in multiple South Asian languages including Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, and Gujarati, using appropriate scripts and voiceovers.
Visual cultural cues
We incorporate recognisable settings, clothing, customs and family structures to build trust and relatability.
Community co-creation and PPIE
We work with local South Asian community members to ensure messages are culturally appropriate, understandable, and acceptable.
Accessible formats
Designed for social media, WhatsApp sharing, digital screens, and public health campaigns.
At Curovia, we believe that language should never be a barrier to understanding, and animation should be a tool for inclusion.
Whether you’re an NHS team looking to improve access, a GP practice struggling to reach underserved communities, or a researcher trying to engage diverse participants, our human-led support can help.
